Practice and swim meets take place in the rain. However, any sound of thunder or instance of lightning clears the pool until at least 30 minutes have passed without a recurrence. The safety of all swimmers is of the greatest importance. Decisions to close the pool are made by the lifeguards; please follow their instructions. If there is stormy weather in the area, please call the pool to see if it is open for practice (703-765-9628). Please note that weather can vary greatly in our area -- it can be pouring in Old Town and sunny in Hollin Hills. On the flip side, remember that the sun beats down hard in the mornings in summer. Urge your children to use a waterproof sunscreen before practices or meets, and to bring a water bottle to stay hydrated.
Respect for Other Pool Members
Many people enjoy the Hollin Hills Pool and support the Swim Team through their dues. We encourage Swim Team families to be sensitive to the needs of other pool members throughout the summer, both during practices and before and after meets.
